Have you ever wondered if there was an effortless way to enjoy fresh herbs, year-round, in your apartment?
The solution may be just around the corner!

Jardin Autonome is a pre-planted, self-watering indoor garden combines design and practicality.
Each unit arrives ready to grow: a curated selection of one-year-old aromatic plants, a sustainable resin planter with an integrated water reservoir, and a recipe booklet to guide you on your journey.
We use quality potting soil, and a recyclable plastic planter (27 × 12 × 14.5 cm) with an integrated water reservoir system.

The recipes are kindly provided by our partner and dear friend, Meg Bortin from the Everyday French Chef.
Each recipe is selected for the herb that you choose and the season – spring salads in winter are nobody’s choice!

Notes on Aromatic Herbs and how to Grow in Le Jardin Autonome
Which aromatic plants can you grow in pots?
Aromatic herbs belong mainly to three botanical families:
Alliaceae: bulbous perennials like garlic, onion, chives, shallots.
Apiaceae: fragrant annuals such as chervil, fennel, parsley.
Lamiaceae: essential-oil producers including basil, sage, rosemary, mint, and thyme.
Not all culinary herbs can be grown indoors, but many do adapt well to containers.
The key is to respect each plant’s specific needs to guarantee healthy growth and a good harvest.
————————-
Light and water requirements
Most herbs need sun, but with different tolerances:
Full sun lovers (4–5 hours/day): rosemary, thyme, satureja, sage, oregano
Bright but not direct sun: chamomile, melissa, mint.
Prefer partial shade (under 3 h/day): allium, houttuynia
- 💡 Avoid placing your Jardin Autonome next to strong heat sources such as radiators, which dry plants out quickly.
————————-
Harvesting
Harvest leaves around flowering time, one by one as needed. For thyme and chives, cut stems a third of the way up with scissors to encourage bushy regrowth.
Avoid harvesting from very young plants to let them establish.

Herb Combination Ideas
Some combinations work well indoors:
Moderate light & frequent watering: allium, mentha, Fishmint (Houttuynia)
Strong light & occasional watering: thyme, rosemary, oregano, lavender, artemisia, chamomile, Satureja, sage
