Erinus alpinus ‘Dr Hähnle’ is a small alpine plant, ideal for sunny rock gardens, producing beautiful pink flowers against a dense cushion of evergreen leaves.

The leaves are evergreen and they form a low cushion, creating a graphic interest even when the flowers have faded.

The star-shaped flowers are born on short stems and are a magnificent dark carmine pink color.

👨‍🌾GARDENING TIPS👨‍🌾:

      • 🌱They prefer light, dry, and poor soils with a chalky tendency—gravelly or rocky debris soils – this makes them great for sunny rock gardens or between paving stones
      • ☀️ Erinus loves loves the sun
      • ✂️ The upright flower stalks hold their shape well and may bloom again in autumn if cut back right after the first flowering.
      • It can also thrive in troughs or containers, where it pairs beautifully with other alpine companions such as edelweiss or rock pinks (Saxifraga), and also grows well alongside heucheras and grasses like Carex.

🫂PAIRING TIPS🫂:

      • As an alpine plant, it will always look magnificent alongside other alpine companions – Edelweiss or Saxifraga for instance
      • Also looks great with Heucheras and taller grasses – Carex, Stipa, Festuca.

Erinus alpinus belongs to the plantain family (Plantaginaceae).
