Euonymus fortunei ‘Emerald Gaiety’ is a small bushy variety of the common Euonymus – magnificent, frost hardy and drought tolerant with round green leaves with bright white margins.

As the winter months arrive, the edges of the leaves take on a slightly rosy hue – bringing winter interest to your window boxes or your hedge.

The pink edges are particularly striking on Emerald Gaiety and can bring a quiet joy in the deepest winter months.

It has a primarily spreading habit though can be used as a low hedge, a ground cover and even as a vine.

The Tale: Euonymus fortunei ‘Emerald Gaiety’

Euonymus is very similar to ivy in the way that it grows and matures.

It has a juvenile phase: this is characterized by a sterile, non-flowering, climbing or creeping phase.

It has an adult phase: this is characterized by an adult, flowering phase without climbing rootlets.

The transition often occurs once the plant has reached a certain height and a certain amount of light, allowing it to begin bearing fruit.
