Heuchera x villosa ‘Black Pearl’ is a striking jet black Heuchera, highly adaptable, highly tolerant to drought.

The leaves maintain their ink black color even when exposed to the sun, so you avoid the fade-to-brown that other Heuchera experience.
The flowers are small and white-cream, lifted high on long elegant stems.

      👩‍🌾GARDENING TIPS👩‍🌾:
        • Mulching is a good idea to protect the plant’s roots in the winter months.
        • Excellent for border, gardenboxes or as a potted plant.
        • ☀️The colors of the ‘Black Pearl’  come out especially when exposed to the sun’s rays

      The Tale
The ‘Black Pearl’ is a Heuchera villosa hybrid.
      What does this mean?
The H. villosa species is a large, late blooming type that exhibits a higher tolerance of high heat and humidity compared to other species. Most produce little flowers in midsummer, but the main event is their foliage.
Plus, this Heuchera comes with her own catchphrase : “take what you can – give nothing back!” – which describes nicely the way it can colonize an area or a garden box.

What is curious about this genus is that it is native to the Russian Far East, parts of Canada, Mexico, and the United States, and is native to the State of North Carolina – quite the spread!

The common name, Coral Bells, references the plant’s bell-shaped flowers. They are so delicate and beautiful, you sort of hold your breath when you walk by them.

The other common name, Alumroot, references the medicinal use of some of the species as an astringent to stop bleeding.
