Helichrysum orientale is a perennial plant with soft, gray ash foliage.
The foliage is ever green (or gray) and is non fragrant – contrary to Helichrysum italicum which is said to smell like curry.
The flowers are small and yellow and produce quite a stunning contrast in early spring against the grey clouds of leaves.

TIPS: Cut back the stems after flowering to help keep a tidy shape.

The Tale:

The natural flowers are commonly used for garlands for the dead, or plants dyed black are mixed with the yellow ones.

Given the palor of the leaves, the plant can also be dyed green or orange-red, and used for bouquets or other creative projects.
