Trachelospermum asiaticum ‘Ogon Nishiki’

Trachelospermum asiaticum ‘Ogon Nishiki’ is a star jasmine with variegated leaves in gold, green, yellow and white and fragrant white flowers in summer.

Though not too much as the leaves can burn! Jasmine is, after all, a true Disney princess 🙂

This is a lifetime relationship plant as it grows very slowly, requiring little attention except care in the winter if your area experiences severe frosts (bring inside or cover with mulch if planted in the ground).

Although technically Trachelospermum is a climber, it is slow to start growing and may need support to climb a fence or trellis.

But it is wonderful as a ground cover, or as a potted plant – especially when you allow its foliage and flowers to cascade down, with all the drama of an autumn river.

It’s an excellent choice for difficult sites like embankments and parking lot islands and is quite drought tolerant once well-established.
