Mentha suaveolens ‘Calixte’ is a variagated variation of the fuzzy mint that is colloquially called Apple Mint.
This rare mint has a delightfully speckled yellow and green foliage, soft leaves and a rather late start in the year.
Drought tolerant once established but not particularly sun-friendly – make sure to keep them out of the scorching sun so that the soil stays fresh and moist.
Morning sun and afternoon shade is best, I’ve found with this one.
The Tales:
This mint can be used for teas and cooking but its flavour/odor are not as powerful as the Chartreuse or the Mitcham.
It is usually kept for its special foliage – in pots or in bouquets.
