Festuca glauca is a perennial, ornamental grass noted for its finely-textured, metallic blue foliage.
Drought tolerant, this little blue will bring year-round color to your garden.
The Tale:
“Festuca” means straw and was the word used for the rod that gave Roman slaves their freedom during the ceremonial act of manumission (“freeing of a slave”) in the Roman Empire.
“Glauca” means white/blue – it is also the root of the word glaucoma. But we don’t want anything to do with that!
TIPS: If you find the blue foliage turning brown, snip it down to 40mm. The new foliage will come back brighter and stronger than before.
MORE TIPS: Dividing the tuft every 2-3 years will keep it perky and extra blue.
