Cerastium tomentosum var. columnae is a soft, grey leaved, fast spreading ground cover originally from the mountains regions.
The leaves are soft and a striking grey-silver color, illuminating and reflecting light in the most magical way.
The flowers are little, white and star-shaped – blooming continuously throughout the summer.
This ground cover is ideal for rock gardens and steep dry slopes as it thrives in well drained, dry soils. It also looks quite dandy in a hanging basket as its foliage reflects the light and creates a curtain of soft silver.
The Tale:
“Tomentose” means felt, referring to the soft hairs that cover the light grey foliage.
