Ballota pseudodictamnus is a unusually soft, grey flowering plant from the mint family.

The leaves are delicate, dished and circular silver-green leaves with a soft felt texture.
Small pink flowers appear in late spring and early summer but you’ll have to search for them as the leaves cover
With her particularly striking grey coat, Ballota brings a Mediterranean touch to any garden or windowsill.
To add to her qualities, she is one of the most drought tolerant and disease resistant plants in the collections – thriving in sun drenched Aegean landscapes, in rocky or sandy soil.

The Tale & The Botany: Ballota pseudodictamnus

Its name ‘pseudodictamnus’ comes from the fact that this plant resembles very much the ‘true dittany’ (Origanum dictamnus) or the dittany of Crete.
