The Tale:
This species is known locally as “serelei” (Sesotho for “slippery one”) or “langnaaldaalwyn” (Afrikaans for “lacey aloe”).
Its species name “aristata” comes from the Latin for “bristly” or “awned” (this means that the appendage has a bristley or spikey bit – in this case it refers to the lacy edges of the leaves).
Other Names:
Guinea-fowl aloe
Lace aloe

South Africa, Lesotho
