Beneath the Sun and Rain
We are Earth inhabitants and thoughtful beings, both in thought and practice.
We believe in working with the environment, adapting to a changing climate and learning from the ecosystems that surrounds us.
As a result, our plants are raised using sustainable practices. They develop at their natural rate. The plants face the challenges of life in the 21st century – weather pattern irregularities, high levels of humiditiy, periods of drought, some patches of generalized chaos🤸. This exposure helps them develop resistance and resilience over time. In fact, I hope this applies for all of us.
Eco-Responsibility and Commitment
We’ve adopted a green approach to running our business, demonstrating our commitment to the environment:
💡 We conserve energy with the use of LED products and programmable timers for seed starting, switching to verandas and greenhouses to optimise light access for seedlings during the winter months to reduce electricity consumption.
🌊 We have a multi-pond irrigation system, allowing for the majority of our water to come from the rainwater that is caught in the ponds. During the summer months, if the multiple ponds run dry, the water can be pumped from a well beneath the gardens.
♻️ We are trying out a Reuse and Recycle system at our nursery – if you bring back any size plastic plant container, we will give you a .50€ discount on any one of our plants! Let’s keep plastic where it should be – out of the waste stream 🙂
🌳We do not use any fertilizer or growth-enhancing chemicals on our plants – they are grown outside, come rain or shine, they have a weekly health check and a yearly repotting. The soil is enhanced only by naturally extracted ‘worm juice’, also known as worm tea or vermicompost tea (collected from my City Worms worm composter, that I add to the plants in the spring months as it is rich in beneficial microorganisms, enzymes, and nutrients.
🌻We do not sell any Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) plants. In fact, many of the plants in our collection are plants that are native to Europe. If you want a field of wildflowers, you know where to find us!
