Veronica peduncularis Georgia Blue is a gorgeous creeping perennial that creates a dense carpet of bright blue flowers.

The leaves are dark green, oval and slightly hairy, shifting to a bronze-purple color towards the end of summer. They disappear in the fall to reappear again in the dead of winter.

The flowers are small and bright blue, appearing in clusters in the spring.

Hardy and resilient, this blue veronica ground cover withstands dry soil conditions and heat waves in summer.

The Tale: Veronica peduncularis Georgia Blue

The genus name honors Saint Veronica who reportedly gave a handkerchief to Jesus so he could wipe sweat from his face on the way to Calvar.

Some of the plants in the genus bear markings that (may or may not) resemble the markings on the sacred handkerchief.
